Beauty: our tips for taking care of your hair in winter!

Winter is here, and it’s here to stay!

Cold weather, rain, wind… it’s time to bring out coats, scarves, and beanies. And while it’s cozy to wrap up and face the chilly days, not everyone enjoys this season, especially your hair! Yes, winter can be quite harsh on your locks.

Here are our best winter hair care tips to help you get through the season and keep your hair healthy, soft, and beautiful all winter long!

1. Drink enough water!

We can never say it enough, stay hydrated!

Hydration starts from within. To keep your hair healthy, strong, and moisturized, you need to drink plenty of water every day. It’s generally recommended to drink between 1.5 and 2 liters of water per day, depending on your body type and daily activity level. For your overall health, and for the beauty of your hair and skin, remember: drink water, and lots of it!

Extra tip: there are plenty of handy apps available to remind you to drink water regularly, practical and motivating!

2. Nourish your lengths and ends

At least once a week, treat your hair to a cozy self-care moment with a plant-based treatment.

Unlike conventional products that only mask damage, botanical ingredients truly nourish and hydrate the hair fiber from within. Your hair draws the nutrients and strength it needs to withstand the harsh winter season.

Try a pre-shampoo oil treatment made with vegetable and essential oils to deeply nourish your lengths, or use a Shea Butter treatment to intensely repair dry ends. The key is to feed your hair with the right natural ingredients so it can stay strong, supple, and radiant all winter long.

3. Choose a beanie and scarf made from soft, natural materials

Beanies and scarves are essential winter accessories, we couldn’t live without them! Without these cozy companions, many of us wouldn’t even step outside, right?

However, for our hair, they’re not exactly the best friends. Friction from rough fabrics can cause breakage and split ends. The secret? Choose natural, soft materials that are less aggressive on your hair.

Pro tip: to really protect your hair, sew a piece of silk inside your beanie, it’s super gentle on your locks and helps prevent friction damage!

4. Adjust your washing frequency

Before even talking about the type of shampoo, let’s talk about how often you wash your hair. Overwashing is a big no, it weakens your hair, no matter your hair type.

This advice applies year-round, but it’s especially important in winter, when the hair is more fragile. Try to space out your washes and avoid wetting or washing your hair every single day.

If you tend to have oily hair, turn to essential oils to help rebalance your scalp instead of washing it too frequently. Daily washing will only make the problem worse over time.

5. Choose a gentle shampoo

When it comes to shampoo, always opt for a gentle, and of course, natural , formula to avoid irritating your hair, which already faces the challenges of cold, wind, and indoor heating.

By choosing a mild, organic shampoo like Sensity or Naturalys, you spare your hair from an extra layer of stress: harsh chemicals. The soap nut extract contained in this shampoo cleanses softly while respecting your scalp’s natural balance.

And just like with washing frequency, if your hair tends to be oily, don’t try to “strip” it clean, that will only make things worse. Treat your hair gently, and it will thank you with strength, softness, and shine!

6. Tie your hair when necessary

Careful, this tip comes with a warning! It’s best not to overdo it, because tying your hair too often or using the wrong accessories can cause serious damage over time.

That said, on particularly windy days, it’s better to tie up long hair to avoid friction and tangling. The ideal hairstyle for these situations? A loose, messy bun. Avoid pulling too tightly and use soft, fabric-covered hair ties to prevent breakage.

7. Treat yourself to a refreshing trim

You can help reduce the appearance of split ends, but repairing them completely is another story.

Even if it’s not always easy to make that salon appointment, a trim is the best way to revive weakened hair. You don’t need a dramatic change, no need to go for a pixie cut!, but refreshing your length and trimming damaged ends can make all the difference.

Once those few centimeters of damaged hair are gone, continue to pamper your hair so you can keep that fresh, healthy look for as long as possible.

Extra tip: visit a plant-based hair salon, they won’t damage your hair with harsh chemicals. On the contrary, you’ll enjoy both a great cut and the restorative power of plants!
