The best organic ingredients for the ultimate dry hair mask!

The Karité Mask is one of the favorite products of hairdressers who work with the Hairborist brand, and for good reason! Its formulation gives it an effectiveness that’s hard to match, even by professional masks. It contains only the most powerful natural ingredients to repair, nourish, heal, and hydrate the hair. And one small but important detail: the Karité Mask is certified organic!

Let’s take a look at the fabulous ingredients that make up the Karité organic mask:

1. Shea Butter

Shea butter is a deeply nourishing active ingredient with exceptional power, especially for dry and undernourished hair. Well known in the care of curly or coily hair, it works wonders on all hair types when properly used.

Rich in omega 9 and fatty acids (oleic, stearic, linoleic, palmitic), shea butter penetrates deep into the hair to restore the natural lipid barrier of the cuticle. Thanks to the presence of vitamins A and E and phytosterols, it also acts as an anti-inflammatory, promoting healing and cell regeneration, ideal for repairing split ends and damaged lengths.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera gel is a highly effective hydrating, soothing, and strengthening active for both hair and skin. Made up of 98% water, it is one of the best natural ingredients for deep hydration. It’s also rich in polysaccharides, which help lock in moisture inside the hair fiber.

Aloe vera also contains vitamins A, C, and E, which stimulate cell renewal, as well as amino acids that play a role in rebuilding the hair’s keratin structure.

Beyond all these benefits, aloe vera has an ultra-light texture, which balances out the denser texture of shea butter to create a luxurious blend that works for all hair types in the Karité Mask.

3. Castor Oil

Widely known for boosting hair growth, castor oil also offers many other benefits. It strengthens the hair cuticle by forming a protective barrier, helping to seal in moisture and preserve keratin. Extremely rich in vitamin E, omega 6 and 9, and minerals, castor oil provides intense nourishment that repairs even the most damaged hair and split ends.

By smoothing the surface of the hair fiber (note: it doesn’t make hair straight, just smoother), castor oil enhances light reflection, yes, that’s where the famous mirror-like shine comes from!

Finally, castor oil coats the hair, improving its density and giving the appearance of fuller, thicker hair.

4. Carefully selected organic essential oils

In addition to these three key ingredients, the Karité Mask is enriched with a selection of certified organic essential oils, including:

  • Neroli essential oil: soothing, stimulating, and regenerating for the hair. It also helps improve the absorption of other actives by the hair.

  • Orange essential oil: strengthening, toning, and revitalizing, it adds both shine and a pleasant natural scent.

  • Litsea cubeba (May Chang) essential oil: oxygenating, energizing, and toning, it promotes hair growth and overall vitality.

Why is the Karité Mask the best mask for dry hair?

As mentioned in the first part of this article, the formulation of the Karité Hair Mask is its biggest strength. Originally developed for professional salon use, the Karité Mask is ultra-concentrated to meet the expectations of hair experts. The result is impressive from the very first application — both in touch and appearance. Hair feels soft, smooth, and silky.

Another major advantage is its texture. While shea butter is a premium ingredient, applying pure shea butter directly to the hair can be a real struggle: it clumps, doesn’t spread well, and is generally unpleasant to work with. In contrast, the Karité Mask offers all the benefits of shea butter (and its complementary ingredients) in a creamy, luxurious formula with a fresh scent. Using it is not only effective, but also a true moment of comfort and pleasure.

Finally, the Karité Mask is versatile. It can be used as a classic hair mask, as a pre-shampoo treatment for deeper repair, or even as a protective layer before swimming. Here’s how to use it for maximum benefits!

How to use the Karité Hair Mask for best results

The Karité Mask can be used in several different ways, all with the same goal: to repair, heal, and protect the hair. The method you choose depends on your preferences and needs. Our advice? Try all three!

1. The usual hair mask

This is used at the end of your hair care routine, but not as the final step! A common mistake is applying the mask after conditioner, when in fact, it should come before. The role of the conditioner is to seal the hair cuticle at the very end of the routine, locking in all the nutrients from previous treatments.

So, apply the Karité Mask right after shampooing, on towel-dried hair. Leave it on for about 2 minutes, then rinse and finish with a conditioner to close the routine.

2. The pre-shampoo treatment

If your ends are very dry and damaged, the Karité Mask can be applied before shampoo, in generous layers on the lengths and ends. Important: pre-shampoo treatments are always done on dry hair, don’t wet your hair beforehand. For best results, apply the mask in the evening and wash your hair the next morning.

3. As protection before swimming

A lesser-known but highly effective summer use of the Karité Mask is to apply it as a protective treatment before swimming. By applying it generously over the entire head of hair, it creates a barrier against sea salt and chlorine. And as a bonus, your hair benefits from a treatment while you enjoy your swim!
