The organic frequent-use shampoo you need!

Do you tend to wash your hair very regularly, even daily? The choice of your shampoo is therefore all the more important: in the long run, a product that is too aggressive or unsuitable would weaken your hair and scalp. Here are some good reasons to choose an organic shampoo for daily use as well as our recommendations.

Respecting the fragile balance of the scalp

Many people wash their hair every day, often out of simple habit. However, this practice could cause long-term damage: the skin of the scalp is extremely thin and delicate, its balance hangs by a thread. The ideal? Use a mild shampoo with a pH close to that of the scalp, which will remove impurities from the hair fiber without attacking it, and counterbalance the regular exposure of your scalp to limescale.

To achieve this, pay close attention to the surfactants present in your shampoo, especially sulfates; Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a particularly powerful foaming agent, which is not suitable for frequent use. Too intense and regular washing with this type of shampoo would lead to various hair problems: scalp itching, dry dandruff, imbalance of sebum production… One key word, therefore: gentleness!

Cleansing without stripping your color

Again, sulfates should be avoided: in addition to damaging the scalp, they erode the pigments of the hair fiber and cause color to fade.

This applies to both oxidation dyes and plant-based dyes, but the latter require even greater caution: since natural pigments adhere delicately around the cuticle, using a shampoo containing aggressive factors would quickly dull your beautiful plant-based color. That would be a shame!

To address this problem and create the perfect frequent-use shampoo, we integrated the soap nut into our formulas. A choice ingredient, though rarely used in cosmetics, it is a 100% natural surfactant. It comes from a nut fruit cultivated in warm and tropical regions, particularly in Asia, around the Himalayas. Once the soap nut is ripe, dried and shelled, it reveals a high concentration of vegetable saponin, giving it exceptional foaming and cleansing power.

This little nut allows us to maintain the foaming effect so appreciated in cosmetics, while being totally healthy and respectful of the hair and scalp. An indispensable element in developing a sulfate-free frequent-use shampoo, as easy to use as a conventional shampoo!

The Hairborist range

At Hairborist, two shampoo references are suitable for daily use. Although their compositions have points in common, your hair type will guide you to one or the other.

Sensity is an organic frequent-use shampoo free of essential oils and fragrance, making it perfectly suited for people with sensitive skin or scalp problems (itching, eczema, psoriasis…). It is also an ally for dry-prone hair thanks to its hydrating power. Its very gentle formula is suitable for the whole family, and it can even be used as a shower gel in case of sensitivity to soap.

Daily Clean, on the other hand, is freshly scented with rosemary essential oils. Its unique sugar-based formula provides a creamy lather that makes the hair soft, shiny and light, while respecting the skin’s balance. More recommended for normal hair, Daily Clean has a slightly stronger cleansing power than Sensity.

Both references are certified organic and perfectly suitable for maintaining natural colors: their particularly mild cleansing base takes care of the vegetable pigments fixed on the hair fiber and maintains the shine of your color over time.

Organic frequent-use shampoo: best practices

Owning the right organic frequent-use shampoo in your bathroom is good. Using it correctly is even better! Follow our recommendations to get the most out of your natural cosmetic:

  1. Always perform two consecutive shampoos when washing your hair, to deeply cleanse the hair and remove all impurities.
  2. Many people skip the conditioner step for convenience or to save time. However, since an organic shampoo does not contain silicone, it must always be followed by a detangling balm, which will close the hair scales, smooth and soften the cuticle, otherwise the hair will look dry and be very difficult to detangle. In other words, if you opt for a bio care routine, shampoo and conditioner always go together! Discover our range of natural conditioners here.
  3. Contrary to what many brands claim, shampoo has only one function: cleaning the hair.

It is of course essential to choose it carefully so as not to attack the hair and scalp, but an organic frequent-use shampoo is not intended to treat a specific hair problem. By definition, shampoo is applied on wet hair, which allows it to foam; however, the water on the hair creates a “barrier” that prevents the active ingredients from penetrating.

You understand: to treat hair effectively, you must work on dry hair. Free from any occlusive substance, the hair is then able to benefit from all the active properties you provide. Hairborist has therefore created two precious vegetable oil treatments: Renovator (for normal to thick hair) and Repair (for fine or oily hair), to be applied before shampooing.

Add a few drops of Aromasynergy essential oils depending on your needs (dry or oily hair, dandruff, sensitive scalp, hair loss…) to boost your treatment and truly address your hair concerns, for a striking and lasting result.

In conclusion, washing your hair daily exposes it to more hair problems: irritation, itching, overproduction of sebum… However, choosing an organic frequent-use shampoo will allow you to maintain this habit without damaging your hair.
